Things To Do Before Oct. 9
So that we will be ready to paint, please prepare the following. (Julian, I know you are traveling, so would you like us to prep these items for you?)
Pay for your "seat" for Paint Week here. You don't absolutely need it, because I have everything for you. But it's important to me to support Ali's business. It's only $10 US!
This is the Paint Week Portal with all the info.
Join the Facebook Group here (optional). Not at all necessary - montly newbies asking the same questions repeatedly. But fun to see where everyon is from and see the variety of paintings.
Assemble your paint. I have some, but possibly not enough. Ali only uses 9 colors: 🎨 Payne's Gray 🎨 Alizarin Crimson 🎨 Quinacridone Magenta 🎨 Naphthol Red Light 🎨 Hansa Yello Opaque 🎨 Phthalo Green 🎨 Phthalo Blue 🎨 Burnt Umber Light 🎨 Titanium White She prefers Golden Fluid Acrylics, but they are too costly for me. Eric at Art Connection helped me select a more affordable brand!
Brushes - she uses flat-tip brushes in a variety of widths.
Transfer paper (aka "carbon" paper - I have plenty if you need it.
3 square surfaces (paper, canvas, wood, cardboard - whatever). You have a choice of template size: 8x8, 10x10 or 12x12. I will have them all available. I also have plenty of cardboard!
Heavy paper for the thumbnail study - I have plenty
Easel & Palette - I have a few easels, but if you have a portable one, please bring!
Gesso - I just bought a can of white house paint / primer to use.
Slow Dri Medium - optional and I never use it
Matte Medium - optional and I never use it
Prepare Your Surfaces - #5 in the portal
I will have all of the downloads printed for us, but if you want them ahead of time, I suggest sending them to a papeleria for printing! (That's what I do.)
Ali suggests prepping all your surfaces with gesso and outlines ahead of time. Because I don't participate in the livestream in real time, it's not such a big deal. But I do like to get it all done at once when there are multiple paintings.
That's it! I'm so happy that y'all will be joining me for this!. We may not finish in one day, but that's just fine.
Big Love, Daryn
